Malaita Kwikwi are crown champions of the 2020 National Beach Soccer Championship invtiational edition after edging Honiara Titans 6-5 in a thrilling grand final at DC Park on Saturday 14 November in Honiara.
It was an end to end match as both teams have experience players in their ranks. Malaita Kwikwi scored early on with a deft header by Bilikiki Max Fa’ari before veteran James Naka draws level for the hosts in the first period.
The scored was tied 3-3 at the end of the second period thanks to goals from Fa’ari and Naka.
Kwikwi scored two unanswered goals in the final period to extend their lead to 6-4 before a late goal for the Titans saw the game end in favour of the Malaitans.
Honiara Lightning bolts edge past a determined Western Kikio side 7-5 in the 3rd/4th play-off to claim third.
Former Bilikiki talisman Naka finished the tournament as the top scorer with 15 goals while Roy Mafane was named as the best player of the tournament.
Kwikwi young goalkeeper Mae Mae received the best goalkeeper award of the tournament for his outstanding performances for the champions.
