Kurukuru share points with Futsalroos in the PacificAus Sports opening futsal friendly series

Australia’s Futsalroos shared the spoils with the Solomon Islands as an evenly contested opening match of the 2023 PacificAus Sports Futsal Series finished 1-1 at Sydney’s Heffron Centre on Saturday, July 1.

Daniel Fornito fired the hosts ahead early in the second half, but Charlie Otainao’s leveller ensured the visitors avoided defeat in the first of three matches between the sides.

Prior to the match, both teams enjoyed an interaction with the Australian Prime Minister, The Hon. Anthony Albanese MP, who was in attendance.

The action continues at 7:30pm local time on Monday, when the teams resume the three-match series at The Centre, Dural, before the final match at the same venue on Wednesday evening.

The PacificAus Futsal Series has been made possible through a partnership with the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade’s ‘PacificAus Sports’ program.

Australia and the Pacific share a rich history and deep love of sport and, through PacificAus Sports, Australia works with Pacific partners to unlock this this potential further and create new opportunities for our athletes to train and compete together.
