Just play team-building retreat

A team of Just Play staff, coordinators and volunteers had a capacity building and team-building retreat at the famous Parangiju Mountain Lodge yesterday in the highlands of central Guadalcanal.

The team went on a hiking tour to the Tenaru falls and a short meeting later in the evening on session planning based on the delivery of festivals in the remaining months of the year.

Michael Bate’e, Just Play regional coordinator said the retreat is vital to his team as they prepare to host festivals in the various provinces in the second phase of the calendar year.

“It is very good for us to come out from our usual busy schedule in the city to strengthen our capacity as a team,” he said.

“I have seen many positives from our team members during the hike as they worked together well as a team.

“I believe this retreat will empower us more ahead of the festivals planned for this year.”

Just Play instructor, Vanessa Kausimae highlighted the importance of the retreat.

“This retreat is very important to build our team bonding and we have discussed a lot of good ideas to help us deliver our programme to children in the targeted provinces,” she said.

“I would like us to have this kind of get together often but the most important thing is we had fun and gel together as a team ahead of our fieldwork.”

Meanwhile, all Just Play training courses for this year will be officially suspended but will take place early next year from February to June 2021.

To replace the training courses, Just Play will be organizing Awareness festivals with the Theme: Health & WASH in the respective regions. This theme is also appropriate for the awareness of COVID-19.

Just Play will also utilize the opportunity to have meetings with Provincial Governments, partners and stakeholders for their 2021 trainings.

Capacity building training for the JP Staff, instructors and volunteers will be ongoing.
