Iumi Play U14 Championship set

Official draws for the third edition of the Solomon Power Iumi Play U-14 Championship have successfully been conducted this evening.

A total of 18 teams have been drawn and included in the boys and girls category, marking off the excitement of youth football development initiative.

SIFF President Donald Marahare had the honor to conduct the group draws while making the assurance in recognizing and fulfilling the objectives of the program to reach out to the populace.

“This is a SIFF homegrown initiative and the executive will ensure it continues to roll out and competitions happening at the youth level and meeting its objectives,” says President Marahare.

 “I want to thank Solomon Power for the continuous commitment and support given to SIFF in making sure this program runs. We will continue to look forward to this partnership and collaboration working together into the future in sustaining this development tournament.

This year’s event will be historical, as it will be included as part of the visiting FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s trip schedule here on August 14th.

“It’s an opportunity for these young boys and girls to come together to learn and share their knowledge and skills through this competition. And I hope the FIFA president’s visit will motivate the young ones to pursue football.

Solomon Power Marketing Manager Stanley Teahohonoa stated that the state-owned enterprise continues to be proud to contribute to football and nation-building through the championship.

 “It’s a proud moment for Solomon Power again to have this Iumi Play U14 Championship on again. We see through this competition has produced results through the recruitment and participation of the national youth teams.

“We want to see the impact in our constituencies around the country, especially on the lives of our children in the rural areas, “he said.

“These are the achievement of this competition, and it has reached out to 50 constituencies throughout the country.

The only province left for the event is Temotu.

However, the other nine provinces will start arriving in the capital city ahead of kick-off date August 13th to 18th at the DC Park.
