Futsalroos dominates PacificAus Sports Futsal series against Kurukuru

The visiting Australian national Futsal team, Futsalroos, won the second edition of the PacificAus Sports Futsal Series after winning back-to-back games against the Solomon Islands national futsal team, Kurukuru, at the Friendship Hall.

In the second game of the series, Futsalroos defeated Kurukuru 6-2 in an eight-goal match, with Ethan De Melo, Jordan Guerreiro, Shervin Adeli, Daniel Fornito, and Ahmed Sweeden scoring for Futsalroos, with Adeli scoring twice, while Raphael Leai scored both goals for Kurukuru.

The Futsalroos were dominant throughout most of the first half but had difficulty capitalizing on their strong performance.

Kurukuru goalkeeper, Anthony Talo, was excellent and denied the Futsalroos several times.

In the second half, Kurukuru had opportunities to equalize, but they failed to convert them into goals.

After the game, Kurukuru interim coach Dickson Kadau said that the experience of playing against a professional side like Futsalroos was valuable for his developing team.

“That’s the level of competence we want our players to test,” Kadau said after the match.

Kadau, who attended two FIFA Futsal World Cups with Kurukuru, put together the team for the series in just three weeks.

“I gave game time for the players to feel the pressure of stepping into the court, and I believe it will build their confidence as they continue.

The final match of the series will be played this Sunday 25 February at the Friendship Hall.
