A good number of football stakeholders shown support for the Solomon Islands national U-17 football team at a cooperation dinner held yesterday evening at the Point Cruz Yacht club in Honiara.
The event was held in aid of the team’s World Cup fundraising drive as we are only weeks away from the October’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Vice President, Marlon Houkarawa acknowledges all the business houses, government ministries and individuals for pledging towards the national youth team’s preparation for the World Cup.
“On behalf of the president and SIFF executive, I would like to thank our stakeholders for supporting football,” he said.
“We can do everything without your support and I believe we are capable of taking football to the next level.”
Solomon Islands national U-17 coach Stanley Waita in his brief remarks said the team is on the right track in their preparation for the World Cup.
“My boys are working hard every day in training and I would like to assure you that we are ready to compete with the world’s best in Brazil,” he said.
“Thank you to all of you for coming out tonight and showing your support for our preparation.”
Present at the cooperate dinner were the following, Our Telekom, Solomon Ports, Analopha Shipping, Advance Technology, Solomon Airline, Tropical Aluminum Glass, SEWA, Taiwan Embassy, Honiara City Council, Prime Minister Office, Ministry of Immigration & Aviation and SIFF.
