As the Solomon Cup 2020 goes into day three (3) of the competition. Two teams from pool (A), Malaita Eagles and Western Tomoko registered another 3 points to maintain their spot for the semi-finals of the 2020 Solomon Cup.
On Monday 30th November 2020, day three (3) of the competition at 2 pm match between Malaita Eagles and Guadalcanal Hornets, the Eagles side did went pass the determined Hornets side to claim another 3 points after defeating them with a 2-0 victory at full time.
Guadalcanal Hornets did have few golden chances to lead in the first half but could not able to find the net as Malaita Eagles defense line did a well defensing to deny chances from the Hornets side.
Malaita Eagles on the other hand with a good ball handing and creating chances did manage to went pass Hornets defence line and able to register two goals which give them another 3 points.
Following their first win against Lauru Kuvojo, Malaita Eagles now sits on the top of pool (A) with 6 points while Guadalcanal Hornets with only 1 point and sits on third spot.
At 4 pm match of day 3, Temotu Arrows who’ve just arrived the night before their opening match on Monday 30th November 2020 got denied their first 3 points after going down against the well versed Western Tomoko.
Coming from behind with Tomoko leading with two goals in the first few minutes of the first half, the Temotu Arrows side pushes their way through and registered 3 goals to go ahead and lead 3-2 against Tomoko side at the end of the first half.
In the second half Temotu arrows scored another goal to make it 4-2 against the Western Tomoko side. However with the fast pace played by the Tomoko side they managed to went pass Arrows defense line and conceived another two goals that puts them ahead of Temotu Arrows which results to Western Tomoko leading Temotu Arrows with 5-4, a very close score margin.
The win against Temotu Arrows gives Western Tomoko 4 points and currently sits on second spot in the pool (A) table while Temotu Arrows yet to register a point, thus still have three games to play.
