In a significant boost to the National Men’s U19 team preparations, BSP Saturday Banking Services allowed the opportunity for players to open personal bank accounts.
This initiative aligns with the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) mandatory requirement for all players and officials to maintain bank accounts for training and travel allowances on national duty.
As part of their holistic preparation, the players are not only training on the field but also receiving essential financial education – ahead of the OFC Men’s U19 Championship in Samoa.
These include learning to use ATM cards, accessing bank accounts through mobile banking, and managing their finances, such as transferring funds to family members or topping up credit.
The hands-on experience of using ATMs and mobile banking is an exciting first for many of the players, adding to their overall development and independence.
In a show of appreciation for choosing BSP as their bank, the team also received water bottles to help them stay hydrated during their travels. These bottles will be particularly useful as they embark on their journey.
With almost 90% of the players traveling for the first time, the anticipation is palpable.
The team is looking forward to representing the country in the youth regional championship and making this experience a remarkable milestone in their lives as young ambassadors.
