Solomon Islands Bilikiki coach Gideon Omokirio has named his 20 man provisional squad for the World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.
Omokirio called up several new faces into the team and kept a majority of the team that finished second in the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup.
SIFF Futsal and Beach Soccer development officer, Dickson Kadau said the Bilikiki coaching team has been assigned to select a competitive team for the World Beach Games.
“I want to stress that we need to assemble a strong team for the games in Qatar for several reasons,” he said.
“First we need to compete on the world stage after a long absence since 2013 and we need to show that OFC deserved two spots in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.”
The Solomon Islands beach soccer national team is set to represent Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in the Association National Olympic Committee (ANOC) World Beach Games Qatar 2019 that will be held from October 11-16 in Doha.
Meanwhile, Bilikiki team manager Reuben Oimae has called on the 20 players named in the training squad to attend a very important meeting on Wednesday, July 31 as training will start next week.
