Malaita Kwikwi was crowned the undefeated Champions of the 2021 Mariner Outboards National Beach Soccer Championship yesterday at the DC Park, Alligator Creek.

It was an entertaining showdown that saw Malaita proving a back to back feat as Champions of beach soccer nationally – edging out rivals Honiara 5-3.

Malaita Head Coach Albert Peter was the happiest man after the final whistle.

“I’m very happy! With our win today our target has accomplished that is to claim the first place again that’s our main aim, defending the beach title,” Peter expressed.

Malaita’s five-year dominance was inevitable as they open up the Challenge for the next beach event in November.“If happen there’s another tournament and we come back we will still fight to claim back our Champions status,” Head Coach Peter confidently said.

Again, as the favourites going in the tournament’s decider Coach Peter also expresses his appreciation to fans and supporters turning out throughout the competition.“I would like to thank the fans for their cooperation,” says Peter.“Foremost. I want to thank God for the strength throughout the competition until the final.Hosts Honiara settled for second walking away with a $15,000 cash prize and silver medals.Western Kikio claimed the second runners up position beating Makira Ulawa 8-4 in the third and fourth playoff.
