It’s a big game, and it’s now or never for the Solomon Islands national women’s team when they take on Fiji for a top Group C finish, and a spot in the semi-finals of the Sol2023 Pacific Games.
The Batram Suri-led side began their campaign at home with a close 1-0 win against Vanuatu who have finished bottom in the group after their second loss going down 2-3 to the Fiji Kulas on Tuesday.
The Fijians only needed a draw against the host nation this Friday to book a semi-final spot, which leaves the Solomon Islands a must-win encounter.
Coach Suri recently said in a post-match that there are areas in the build-up that needed to be worked on for that crucial final group match.

“Against Fiji, it won’t be easy. They are a very tough team to play against, but we are here and ready to compete against whoever our next opponents will be,” Suri said.
Fiji made a last-minute escape to come out victorious against Vanuatu putting them on top of the group standing on three goals for advantage.
In a day only a team will advance and will take on a second-best runner-up in either Group A or B.
The Solomon Islands and Fiji match is scheduled for Friday 24th, at 3 pm at the Lawson Tama stadium.
