The 2021 SIFF Ordinary Congress was successfully held at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara as football leaders from SIFF members adopted key documents.
Before the congress proper, a 2-day Pre-Congress workshop was held at the SIRUF Conference Room on Saturday 26th 2021.
The workshop give opportunity for delegates to discuss the three main agenda items of the ordinary congress the 2020 Activity Report, 2020 Audit Report and 2022 Budget.
The 2020 Activity Report highlights SIFF’s events last year and was compiled by SIFF Media.
The 2020 Audit Report was audited by PwC Fiji and based on recommendations from the independent auditors, congress approved the financial record of the year 2020. SIFF President William in his official remarks said football can only get better if football leaders work together to achieve a common goal.
“2020 was a challenging and successful year for Solomon football,” he said.
“When the world is facing a difficult year we as a family we united together. Collectively we have achieved what its need to be done.
“We received so much praise from FIFA, OFC and other football partners here in the country in terms of good finance, accountability and activities during the pandemic period.
“There were many activities done last year than previous years and we give some much financial support to our members.
“Thank you to FIFA who have provided 90 per cent of our financial support”.
SIFF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Leonard Paia also updated the congress on other matters such as the HFA normalizing committee, Iumi Play programme and Kurukuru FIFA Futsal World Cup preparation.
SIFF Vice President Marlon Houkarawa highlighted some way forward for the federation and its Provisional Member Association (PFA) such as improving governance, administration and using digital platforms through the delivery of football nationwide.
