It’s a new year for the Solrais Women’s Premier League (SWPL), as today marks the official launch of
its fourth edition – set to kick off this weekend, Saturday 22nd, at the Eastern Sports Park (King
George Running Tracks/Field).
SWPL Chairman, Ronald O’Grady, said it's another milestone for women’s football development in
the country and the launch come on the back of a successful national women’s team campaign
recently.
“Women’s football has been developing exceptionally throughout the past years, resulting in the
improved performance of the national team in recent overseas competitions. We look forward to
another season of the excitement of the women’s game,” O’Grady said.
Ten football clubs from last season returned for this year’s competition – as Solrais Company
continue its support.
“It’s the fourth league, Solrais as the major sponsors continue to show commitment and It’s great to
have such a great company behind such competitions,” O’Grady said.
The SWPL Chair also expressed appreciation to other business houses who have also shown support
towards the participating clubs.
“We all look forward to the excitement, also building up towards another fantastic competition – the
2023 Pacific Games in November,” he said.
Solrais Country Manager James Bradford reiterates the company’s commitment and partnership in
developing women’s football.
“We have been involved with women’s football for four years directly. We have seen it develop
throughout the years – the effort, and commitment put into the games making it to the national
level.
“It’s a huge success! At Solrais we don’t see it as a sponsorship agreement but as a partnership that we
look forward to – the year in and year out – here for a long term,” says Bradford.
He continues acknowledging the clubs, players, and business entities who have worked behind the
the scene in seeing women’s football grow.
“Our support is a direct acknowledgment of the success of the competition. With the effort and
commitment put together we get the results – and this year we are increasing our sponsorship!
The launching today was also witnessed by SIFF CEO Leornard Paia.
