Tuesday 23rd February, 2010
The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Executive Committee held its first meeting for this year on Monday (22nd February). A number of important items were discussed in the meeting which was held at the SIFF Academy Complex conference room.

SIFF Executive Committee: Back row - Aloysio Ma'ahanoa, Treasurer; Lyndon Bako, Derek Taka;
Atkin Vilaka. Front row: Robert Riqeo, Snr. Vice President; Martin Alufurai, President; Stanley Siapu, Vice President

The main agenda item was the presentation of reports to the Executive Committee on projects currently run under the auspices of SIFF. The SIFF General Secretary, Eddie Ngava, reported to the members on the progress that has been made with the three (3) projects: FIFA Goal 3 Project, LEARN&play Project and the Win In Oceania (WIO) Project which is SIFF working on in 2010.

An important decision made in the meeting was for SIFF to rebuild the office complex at Lawson Tama in Honiara which was burnt down during the Solomon Cup tournament in 2009. An assessment of the building’s base and structural plans will be developed before finance for its reconstruction is sought.

The SIFF Executive Committee also considered the possibility of working with organizers of the Solomon Games for the football component of the event. It was decided that should football be included in the 2010 Solomon Games a recommendation will be made by SIFF for the competition to be held at the U-20 level.

The SIFF Executive also decided that all Provincial Football Associations (PFAs) will have to submit their activity and financial reports for 2009 by the 31st of March. On a similar note the Executive Committee was informed that only a few of the 10 PFAs have submitted their constitutions and information about the term of their current executive committees and contact details for 2010.

The SIFF Executive also agreed with the revised dates for the SIFF Congress which from now on will be held in April/May of each year as opposed to after July which was the practice in the past. This will go in line with the SIFF Calendar of Events as well as the SIFF Financial Year which ends on December 31st.
Auki in the Malaita Province was looked at as a possible host for the 2010 SIFF Congress. The actual date for the 2010 SIFF Congress is yet to be confirmed but according to the SIFF 2010 Calendar of Events it should be held in May.

The SIFF Executive Committee is the executing arm of the Solomon Island Football Federation that works with the SIFF Standing Committees and the SIFF Secretariat (Administration) to implement policies and plans formulated by the SIFF Congress. The SIFF Congress is the highest authority in the football hierarchy in Solomon Islands. The current SIFF Executive members were voted in by the SIFF Congress in August 2009.

Three (3) more SIFF Executive Committee meetings are scheduled for later on the year in the SIFF 2010 Calendar of Events.

Other outcomes:
- Lyndon Bako is appointed as Chairman of the SIFF Futsal Standing Committee. He replaces Martin Alufurai who previously held the position.
- Atkin Vilaka replaces Aloysio Ma'ahanoa as the Chairman of the SIFF Referees Standing Committee
